The firm was founded in 2007 as “Caguioa & Gatmaytan” by Alfredo Benjamin S. Caguioa, Jaime Renato B. Gatmaytan, Ben Dominic R. Yap, Norma Margarita B. Patacsil, Anthony Mark A. Gutierrez, and Jesus Paolo U. Protacio. In January 2013, Alfredo Benjamin S. Caguioa was appointed by then-President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III as Chief Presidential Legal Counsel (and later Secretary of the Department of Justice) and withdrew from the partnership. In January 2016, he was appointed as the 174th Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. The firm has since changed its name to “Gatmaytan Yap Patacsil Gutierrez & Protacio” but also continues to practise under the style of “C&G Law” as it has become popularly known.
C&G Law’s current partners are Jaime Renato B. Gatmaytan, Ben Dominic R. Yap, Norma Margarita B. Patacsil, Anthony Mark A. Gutierrez, Jesus Paolo U. Protacio, Cesar E. Santamaria, Jr., Mary Thel T Mundin, Jess Raymund M. Lopez, Albert Vincent Y. Yu Chang, Kristine Ninotschka L. Evangelista and Vladi Miguel S. Lazaro. The firm has developed from strength to strength; today, it has more than 40 fee earners, and is still rapidly growing.
